Playlists and folders

Use playlists to collect tracks for a set, and folders to organize several playlists together. These folders organize Ora DJ's sidebar; they do not move your audio files on disk.

Manual playlists

Create a playlist from the playlist section in the sidebar, name it, then drag tracks into it. A manual playlist keeps the tracks and order you choose.

You can also create a playlist from an import notification's Playlist + menu. See Importing tracks.

Open a playlist to use its list, cover art, or canvas view. Removing a track from a playlist leaves it in your library.

Dynamic playlists

A dynamic playlist uses rules instead of a hand-picked track list. Open its editor to choose fields and conditions, then save. Its contents update as your library changes.

You can start with the current library filters: choose Save as dynamic playlist, review the generated rules, and save. See Filtering. Correct any invalid or incomplete rule before saving.

Organize folders

Create folders in the playlist section and drag playlists or other folders into them. Expand a folder to browse its children. Selecting the folder shows tracks from its playlists and nested folders together.

A track can appear more than once in this combined view when it belongs to several playlists. Those rows represent playlist entries, not duplicate audio files.

Quick access

Drag frequently used playlists or folders into Quick access. These are shortcuts to the existing items, so edits remain visible wherever you open them.

Delete a folder

Deleting a folder also deletes its nested folders and playlists. For a non-empty folder, Ora DJ lists what will be removed and asks you to confirm. Empty folders are removed immediately.

This removes playlist organization and membership. It does not delete the tracks from your music library or their audio files.
