Do I still need Rekordbox?

Only for the booth. Ora DJ handles the whole prep workflow that Rekordbox makes a chore: library, tagging, planning, and rehearsal. The one thing Pioneer hardware still needs is a Rekordbox export, so you prep everything in Ora DJ and export finished playlists back to Rekordbox for the USB. Rekordbox becomes the last step, not the place you suffer.

How do I get started?

What are Set Chapters?

Set Chapters let you break your playlist into structured sections like warm-up, groove, peak, reset, closing, or custom sections you define. Instead of one flat track list, you can see the arc of your performance and plan each section intentionally. Chapters are a planning tool inside Ora DJ only. They are not exported to Rekordbox or to a USB stick, so the chapter structure stays in Ora DJ while the finished playlist is what travels to the booth.

What is the Visual Canvas?

The Visual Canvas lets you map your tracks spatially by energy, BPM, key, genre, mood, or custom tags. You can see how tracks relate to each other, discover clusters and transition paths, and plan alternative routes through your library, in a way that is easier to understand than a long scrolling list.

Ora DJ gives you fast search, flexible filtering, custom tags, and visual organization designed around the way DJs think about their music. The goal is to help you rediscover tracks you forgot you had and find the right next track faster, instead of always reaching for the same recent imports.

Yes. Connect a controller with a built-in mapping, or create a custom mapping for any controller that sends MIDI. Then test transitions and rehearse sections directly inside Ora DJ while the set is still taking shape.

Yes. Ora DJ imports your existing library in one click, from both Rekordbox and Traktor. Your tracks, playlists, cue points, BPM, key, and tags come across, so you start without rebuilding your collection from scratch, and nothing in your original library is changed. Do your whole prep in Ora DJ, then export finished playlists back to Rekordbox for the USB and the CDJs.

Will Ora DJ work with my MIDI controller?

Yes, if it sends MIDI. The DDJ-400, DDJ-FLX4, DDJ-GRV6, DDJ-1000, DDJ-1000SRT, DDJ-800, DDJ-FLX10, DDJ-FLX2, DDJ-FLX6, and DDJ-SB3 have built-in mappings. For other MIDI controllers, Ora DJ guides you through a custom mapping and saves it for the next session.

How does MIDI controller mapping work?

When Ora DJ sees a MIDI controller without a built-in mapping, choose "Map controller." Move or press the hardware control for each action you want to assign, review the result, and save it. You can map a Shift control and reverse controls whose direction runs the wrong way.

Can I trust Ora DJ not to mess up my library?

Yes. Ora DJ never writes into your Rekordbox or Traktor database. It reads your library once on import and leaves the original untouched. On top of that, your Ora DJ library is backed up automatically every day, so in the unlikely event something goes wrong, you can restore one of your previous backups at any time.

Can I use Ora DJ without a DJ controller?

Absolutely. The controller is optional, for hands-on rehearsal. The rest of Ora DJ (library management, chapters, canvas, and Rekordbox import) all works without a controller connected.

No. Ora Free has no limit on tracks in your local library. The 10,000-track limit applies only to the cloud library synced with Ora+.

Ora+ is in closed beta, and new subscriptions are not available yet. Download Ora DJ for Mac to get started with Ora Free. When subscriptions open, you will be able to subscribe from your account in the app.
