Library location
Move Ora DJ library data to another folder or drive, or switch to an existing library.
Ora DJ stores your playlists, cues, tags, settings, and analysis separately from your music files. Open Settings > Library and find Library location to see where that data lives and how much space it uses.
Move your library
- Click Change location and choose a destination folder.
- Review the destination in the confirmation.
- Choose Move library and restart. Keep the destination drive connected while Ora DJ moves the library and restarts.
Your music files stay in their current folders. Moving the library does not collect or relocate them. For those files, see Moving and renaming files.
Most of the library's space is waveform data, which Ora DJ can regenerate from your music files.
Switch to an existing library
If the selected folder already contains an Ora DJ library, the confirmation shows Use this library and restart. This opens that library's playlists, cues, tags, settings, and analysis. It does not merge the two libraries.
Your current library remains in its original folder, so you can switch back later.
External drives
Keep the library drive connected while using Ora DJ. If it is unavailable at startup, use the recovery screen to reconnect or locate the library before continuing.
Ora DJ warns when the destination uses exFAT: unplugging that drive while the app saves can lose recent changes. When moving to exFAT, Ora DJ keeps a safety backup on the Mac. Keep your own library backups as well.
